The proof that Hoogeerd ages over a century is a piece of a newspaper which was found in a split in a beam. Mr. and mrs. Lepoutre were the owners till 1981. Hoogeerd then was a farm with a café. The café was mostly visited by captains because the quay was very important for merchandise transport to Wijchen. Nelly de Wildt - de Werd was mostly active in the café and Bertus de Wildt was a farmer. They had five children and in 1981 their daughter José took over the company from her parents.
After a renovation José Lepoutre started with a little café and 3 guest rooms. In 1988 there was build a closed veranda which was used as the restaurant. The farm, which wasn't used since the take-over, was turned over into party room "de Loonsewaard". At the hay-loft were realised 7 hotel rooms. A few years later there was build a second party room with 2 hotel rooms on top.
The last and biggest rebuilding took place in 2000. Mister de Wildt has hammered the first pole. After this rebuilding, Hoogeerd became was it is nowadays. A view for community Wijchen with 29 hotel rooms, 5 party and meeting rooms, a restaurant with 80 seats, a terrace with 80 seats and a cosy bar.
